PJAN To Celebrate 2024 World Photography Day With Lectures, Photo Walk, Exhibition, Free Medical Outreach

The Photojournalists Association of Nigeria has lined up a series of programs to commemorate this year’s World Photography Day, taking place on August 19, 2024 with the global theme: “AN ENTIRE DAY

The World Photography Day event offers a unique platform for photographers and photography enthusiasts to come together, exchange ideas, and celebrate the art and craft of photography.

World Photography Day is celebrated annually on August 19. It is an internationally recognized day for photographers “to share their world with the world” through a single photo.

The date of World Photography Day memorializes August 19, 1839, the date the French government released the daguerreotype patent making that photographic process “free to the world.”

In a press statement issued by the Secretary of PJAN World Photography Day committee, Paul Timothy states, “we encourage all those passionate about photography to join us for this enriching and memorable occasion.”

This exciting event will have as the father of the day, the Former governor of Ogun State and Patron of Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN), His Excellency Chief Olusegun Osoba and will feature a lineup of renowned photographers and industry experts, offering valuable insights and perspectives on the art and business of photography.

The esteemed speakers for this event include Lagos State Commissioner for information and strategy, Hon. Gbenga Omotoso; Commissioner for Tourism, Art and Culture, Hon. Toke Benson Awoyinka; An Artificial Intelligence expert, Dr. Seyi Akindehinde; An intellectual Property Law expert, Amosa Shukurat;
A Photographer, cinematographer and administrator of Naijaphotostock.com,
Seyi Body Lawson; HOD Photography, YABATECH, Akeredolu Olusola; Governor, Lagos State Professional Photographers Association of Nigeria (LASPPAN), Aremo Ademola Gbosibo; The Photo editor, Vanguard Ltd. Lamidi Bamidele.

Other special guests of honour and special appearances include, the Chairman Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Adeleye Ajayi; A renowned Documentary Photographer, photopreneur and Patron of PJAN, Dayo Adedayo and a host of others each bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with the photography community.
