Olasunkanmi Elected Lagos PJAN Chairman, As Nigerian Photojournalists Chose New Executive Members

The Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN), Lagos Headquarters, on Thursday, August 6th , elected new executive members to steer the affairs of the association for the next three years.

The election was held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos Council, Alausa, Ikeja.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Bamidele Lamidi announced the results at the venue.

He declared Bolaji Olasunkanmi of The Daily Monitor as Chairman and Paul Timothy – a freelance Photojournalist as Vice Chairman, unopposed.

Lamidi also confirmed the re-election of the incumbent secretary, Kazeem Bakenne – Managing Editor of Nationalmomentng, Comrade Leke Ajebo, Photo Editor of the Information Unit of Amuwo Herald and Amuwo Prism, as Assistant Secretary, unopposed.

Other elected officers are Kola Aliu, Senior Photojournalist with Leadership Newspaper, as Treasurer; Michael Otogo, The Economy News Magazine,  as Financial Secretary; and Abiodun Omotoso, Managing Editor of TheForesightNG, as Internal Auditor, unopposed.

In his response, Chairman-elect, Bolaji Olasunkanmi thanked  everyone who took time to attend the event despite the heavy downpour.

He promised that as team leader, to  harness the association’s  collective potential in order to  meet 21st-century industry challenges, upholding the high standards of professionalism for which PJAN is known.

Furthermore, Olasunkanmi stated that he’ll  prioritise  member welfare, ensure  total accountability, and build  strategic partnerships with key stakeholders.

​”We will also work closely with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)- Lagos State Council for the mutual benefit of all members” he submitted.

However, he stressed that the success of the new administration would depend on the collective commitment and participation of all members.

“True progress requires collective effort. Therefore, I invite every member to join hands with the executive team as we write this new and impactful chapter in the history of our noble association,” he said.

Olasunkanmi further called for unity, cooperation and constructive contributions from members as the association embarks on what he described as a new phase of growth, innovation and renewed purpose.

He thanked all members and stakeholders for their confidence and support, expressing optimism that the coming years would usher in greater achievements for PJAN Lagos.
